How to Control Hair Fall & Dandruff

Hair fall and dandruff are some of the most common hair problems that we face today. It not only depends on internal factors like diet and health, but it may also get out of control with environmental stressors.  Having to deal with your hair falling constantly on feeling like you are making it snow inside with your dandruff can be a real confidence killer. Dandruff is not limited to your hair on the head only, you may have noticed dandruff particles on your eyelashes that fall from your eyebrows and could trouble your eyes and cause irritation. Dandruff is usually caused by increased oil production and secretion.

The major causes of hair fall are dry and irritated skin, fungus on the scalp, or bacterial growth. An unhealthy diet and stressful situations can cause hair issues, as well. You might feel a little defeated as you are still trying to find the best remedy, here are some to consider:

  • Tea Tree Oil:

Tea tree oil has so many benefits ranging from haircare to skincare that it's better just to keep a bottle at home. Its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties keep your scalp less flaky and dry. Not just dandruff, it also prevents seborrheic dermatitis - basically dandruff but on areas other than the scalp, like on arms. According to a research, greasiness and flakiness are reduced by 41% at the end of a month-long usage of tea tree oil - add a couple of drops to your shampoo every day and see the results! Make sure you try a little on your skin before applying it on the scalp, tea tree oil can be quite potent and can irritate your skin.

  • Garlic:

Garlic has a great medical value that cannot be ignored. It is an anti-fungal natural product that can be crushed or used in the raw form, both are equally beneficial! Take two cloves of garlic, mix it with water, and apply to your scalp and see quick results. If the smell annoys you a little too much, add a bit of honey to it.

  • Shampoo:

The easiest solution we come to is switching up your shampoo. But if you don’t take the time to understand what you need to tackle your damaged hair issues you will end up picking up the wrong shampoo. Always look for something that promotes hydration and has the cleanest formula as possible. Purifying Shampoo with Jujube Extract by Christophe Robin is made with 100% natural ingredients and derived from jujube bark, it can eliminate your dandruff forever! It controls the excess excretion of sebum and prevents itchiness as well.

  • Hair serum:

Repair serums for hair have proven useful to counter hair fall for those who use it on a regular basis. From increasing circulation, removing toxins and debris from the hair follicle to make room for the healthy growth of hair, serums do it all! It sometimes even re-activates a dormant follicle, so it starts growing hair again. There are plenty of hair serums in the market, but my favorites are Search & Rescue | Biotin and Botanical Enriched Fortifying Serum by Navy Hair Care. This biotin serum prevents any sort of breakage and encourages growth - coconut oil will retain moisture to turn your dry, damaged hair into strong and beautiful! Also, Matricaria, a flower extract, will soothe your scalp and increase elasticity in your hair.

  • Aloe vera:

Aloe vera gel is known for hair repair treatment without any use of chemicals or harmful ingredients. The antifungal properties calm down the irritated scalp and provide instant relief from inflammation. It has a cooling effect, so it feels soothing to apply it in summers' scorching heat. For easy access, grow it in your home! It’s not a fussy plant to grow, so whenever you need some relief, remove a leaf and extract its gel.

  • Hair Mask:

An easy way to bring life back to your hair is by incorporating hair masks into your weekly hair routine. It can provide your follicles with active nutrients to help them nourish and grow. Iles Formula Hair Mask Haute Performance brings strengthening ingredients like Tucuma butter and pracaxia extracts, along with nut oils from Australia. It’s a sumptuous cocktail for hair and scalp without weighing the hair down.

  • Baking soda:

We all have baking soda lying in one of our kitchen cabinets, right? Well, surprisingly, it plays a significant role in hair repair treatment. It acts as a scrub and gently exfoliates the scalp, removing dead cells in the process. It also helps with getting rid of redness and itching that causes irritation and sometimes bleeding. Simply add it to your shampoo whenever you take a bath.

  • Conditioner:

Conditioner plays a very important part to keep your scalp hydrated and moisturized. Your regular shampoos usually contain salicylic acid, which can dry up your hair really fast, and conditioner balances with that. Classic Conditioner by Aesop is one of the best hair repair conditioners, without a doubt. Made with botanical oils and Hydrolysed Vegetable Protein, you can count on this one for detangling and smoothing your hair.
