Gentleman, Shaving Cream or Shaving Gel?
On my way back from work, my husband calls frantically and says he forgot to buy shaving cream to shave his beard before we go out on a double date. Luckily, I was around the corner of a store and got him the one I thought he wanted. Wrong! He came downstairs and asked me why I bought a shaving gel rather than a shaving cream. Ooops. First I thought, what is the problem? Is there a difference? Well let me tell you, he had no problem being late to our dinner to discuss the differences between the 2. After a little research and a long explanation here is what I found out:
Shaving Cream for Men:
A shaving cream is a way to soften your hair so it’s easier to shave. It contains a lubricating effect and sets up a boundary between the razor blade and skin, preventing nicks and cuts. Shaving cream helps to retain moisture in the skin as well, making hair supple so that they can be cut away precisely.
Shaving Gel for Men:
Shaving gel is also used to soften your hair for an easier shave. Difference now is that shaving gel is transparent, providing you with a clear view of which hair is removed and which is left. As gels are oil-based, they provide your skin with enhanced moisturization making skin and hair soft and smooth. Another main difference is that it reduces shaving time and you won’t need to use water!
There are so many options available these days but these are the best shaving creams and shaving gels around:
The best premium shaving cream is Duke Cannon by far. Its ingredients include Citric Acid, Allantoin, Aloe Vera, and Shea Butter. Citric acid plays a massive role in creating a clean canvas as it supports the removal of dead cells to promote new ones. Allantoin retains the skin hydration making it soft and smoother. Aloe Vera functions as a soothing agent and supporter to your razor to glide smoothly. Last but not least, shea butter brings in the softness and anti-inflammatory properties because of its fatty acid and vitamin content.
Its raw materials involve Calendula oil which is responsible for exfoliating dead cells and retaining moisture in the skin along with the treatment of cuts and nicks. The Rosemary provides you with a protective layer between the razor blade and skin, minimizing the number of minor cuts.
This is one of the best shaving cream for sensitive skin. It provides you with smooth and easy glide shaving canvas and combats minor cuts and nicks. Its ingredients include Macadamia Nut Oil, Jojoba Oil, and Glycerin. Advanced silicon blend, peppermint, and Eucalyptus are also included. This conditioning shave nurtures your skin, sealing in moisture and finishes off with a cool and fresh sensation.
This is one of the best shaving gels you can purchase at a drugstore. It provides you with a soothing and refreshed feeling on every shave. It is transparent and provides you with a clear look of the hair that needs to be taken care of. Gillette Fusion Proglide gives a silky and smooth shave preventing any grazes and scratches. It gives you the desired face look along with retaining the moisture of the skin.
This Transparent Shave Gel is a plant-oriented shave gel. It contains Aloe Vera, Argan Oil, Coconut Water, Avocado Oil, Cocoa Butter, and White Tea Extracts. Coconut water is an antioxidant and makes skin silky and smooth preventing skin obstruction. White tea extracts soothes the skin and makes shaving effortless. Cocoa butter has skin lubrication power and conditions the skin making it silky and soft.
It is an ice-cool shave gel that provides your skin a refreshing sensation after every shave. This cures burns and irritations if any present on the skin. Aloe Vera adds to the slipperiness making shave smooth, Jojoba oil also put in its role in making skin soft and adding extra glide to the razor. Chamomile has always been famous for its anti-inflammatory properties in skin products. It helps fight burns and scratches!
Everyone has a different preference but I am leaning towards the shaving gel as it does provide an extra layer of moisture and saves water!
